The Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia (Parco Archeologico di Paestum e Velia) is an institution that operates under the aegis of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage. The Park enjoys special status with a significant degree of autonomy and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.
The Park has territorial jurisdiction over the museum and the archaeological site of Paestum, the Narrative Museum of Hera Argiva at the mouth of the river Sele, the premises of the former Cirio factory, the ancient city walls and other archaeological sites assigned to it.
The Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia has the task of enriching, preserving and enhancing archaeological and art-historical collections and monuments within its areas of jurisdiction in order to contribute to the safeguarding and sustainable access to cultural heritage.
The Park also has research objectives in the fields of archaeology, history of art and architecture, including collaborative initiatives with other Italian and international partners.
The Ministerial Decree of 23 December 2014, related to the organisation and functioning of state museums, established the following governing bodies for institutions with special autonomy:

Scientific committee:

Board of auditors:
the Board of Auditors checks compliance with administrative and accounting regulations, ensuring the regularity of the book-keeping and the regularity of the economic, financial and asset management of the Park. The president, an official of the Italian Ministry of Economics and Finance, shall be remunerated by the Ministry; the other two members have the right to remuneration determined by a decree – currently awaiting final approval – of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism in conjunction with the Ministry of Economics and Finance (Ministerial Decree 23/12/2014 pursuant to art. 13)
